HOW TO USE THIS SITE
Finding Specific People Group. Enter keywords in the Start Exploring toolbox and press “SUBMIT” to begin search. If you don't see the toolbox, click "find" to open.
Filtering People Groups. Category filters allow refining the people groups selection. Items selected will be shown in the filter boxes. Multiple items selection provides complex search options.
Exploring the People Group Map
Marker for a people group. The color marker indicates the main GSEC status of a people group. The white dot inside indicates further that it is engaged by Great Commission Christians with church planting.
Marker for multiple people groups. The number indicates the count of people groups within that group marker. Double-clicking on a group marker will zoom in on that group.
People Group Details. Clicking on a people group marker will show you the name, language, population, and a picture of the people group. Clicking the name of the people group will take you to the people group details page.
Selecting a View (Maps, Lists, or Photos)
Click the menu in the green bar to switch to a different view. The filtering options will carry from one view to another. Click "more" to further refine your query or combine more complex search options and filters.
KEYS & DEFINITIONS
GSEC 0 – No evangelical Christians or churches. No access to evangelical print, audio, visual or human resources.
GSEC 1 – Less than 2 percent evangelical. Some evangelical resources available. No active church planting within past two years.
GSEC 2 – Less than 2 percent evangelical. Initial or concentrated church planting within past two years.
GSEC 3 – Less than 2 percent evangelical. Dispersed church planting within past two years.
GSEC 4 – Greater than or equal to 2 percent evangelical, but less than 5 percent evangelical.
GSEC 5 – Greater than or equal to 5 percent evangelical, but less than 10 percent evangelical.
GSEC 6 – Greater than or equal to 10 percent evangelical.
People group – a group of people sharing a common ethnic identity and language.
Unreached People Group – a people group is unreached when less than two percent of its population is evangelical Christian.
Engaged People Group – a people group is engaged when a church planting strategy, consistent with Evangelical faith and practice, is under implementation. It is not engaged when it has been merely adopted, is the object of focused prayer or is part of an advocacy strategy.
